In Las Vegas there is incorrect information being said that a valid driver's license is not required. This is a false statement. A Nevada driver's license is required to operate a scooter, motorcycle, RV, or personal car on Nevada roads. During a brief conversation with a police officer from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (Metro), he stated a driver's license is required. An operator can be cited and have the scooter impounded for not having a valid driver's license.
Currently there is no liability insurance requirement for scooters under 49cc. However an insurance policy for a scooter can cost as little as $200 per year. An insurance policy would provide full coverage protection.
